Carcassonne Airport

Approximately 45 minutes from Mazamet it is the closest International airport to Mazamet and

Good priced flights are usually readily available from either London Stanstead or Brussels to Carcassonne which is about forty five minutes from Mazamet and then another fifteen minutes on to us at Albine. Car Hire is readily available from the airport or the Carcassonne city.

Travel tip:
Ryanair.com offer cheap flights with some amazing deals if you manage to book at the right time.

Toulouse Airport

Toulouse Airport is a little further away being one hour from Mazamet. It has regular FlyBe fly from Bristol, Southampton and Heathrow.

British Midlands (BMIBaby) offer a service from East Midlands and Cardiff to Toulouse and sometimes good bargains can be had.

Car Hire is readily available from the airport and the city.

By sea

Cross channel ferries still leave a considerable journey after arrival in France but the roads down from the North provide pleasant scenery and a good chance to see the country. Approximate travel time from Le Havre to Albine is nine hours (no allowance for stops) for a journey of 880 kilometres using the motorways.

For those who like a longer boat journey and less driving another route is a ferry to Santander in northern Spain and then drive up from there. Travel time from Santander to Mazamet is about six and a half hours (no stops) for a journey of 625 kilometres using the motorways.

By car Route map

Flying has the advantage of being fast and if you're to get the best from your visit car hire is really a 'must'. Coming by ferry is slower but means it's almost certain you'll be bringing your own car. This has many advantages.

Mazamet is situated on on a major road network between Toulouse and Beziers. For excellent journey planning from the ferry ports we recommend the Michelin web site. From the channel ports a rough guide the following major towns, is listed here with average travel times.

• Castres: 30mins
• Albi: 45 mins
• Carcassonne: 45 mins
• Toulouse: 1.15 hours
• Bordeaux: 2.5 hours
• Beziers: 1 hour
• Paris: 7 hours
• Montpelier: 2 hours


By train

TGV trainNearest major train terminus is Toulouse. The very swift and comfortable (not to mention punctual) TGV, Train Grande Vitesse, travels regularly from Paris to Toulouse. It is quite an experience and many folks make this fascinating journey a part of their holiday. From Paris to Toulouse the TGV takes four hours. From Marseille to Toulouse is the same journey time, Bordeaux is two hours and Nantes seven.

Being such an important city t rains from all major cities in France connect to Toulouse. The Matabiau station there serves as train, bus and metro terminus making easy access all these forms of public transport.

The train journey rom Toulouse to Mazamet is simple with twelve direct trains each day.
